On the Northern shore of Lake
Ontario, lies Canada’s largest city, Toronto. It is the capital of the province
of Ontario and is a major economic and cultural centre for the country. There
are nearly 6 million people living in Toronto. This mega cosmopolitan city
attracts people from all over the world.
Neighbourhoods such as China Town, Greek Town and Little Italy are
examples of its diversity. Being the 4th
largest city in North America, Toronto is a blend of big skyscrapers, Beautiful
waterfronts, Amazing shopping, multi-cuisine food and Vibrant Green spaces.
Toronto has many ways to get
around the city. Public transport
includes Bus, Subway and Red Street cars. Like many other major cities around
the world, Toronto also has its eco-friendly bike program. With bike stations
all around, it’s a fun way of getting around. The major attractions are very
well connected. The CN Tower is the symbol of Toronto. At 457 metres, it gives a great view of
Toronto. In fact, on a clear day, you may also be able to see the NiagaraFalls. It also has the world famous glass floor and a revolving restaurant at
the 147th floor.
Besides the CN Tower, other
attractions are Toronto Zoo, Hockey Hall of Fame, St. Lawrence market, Fort York National
Historic Site, Allen Gardens, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, Casa Loma and Harbour
Front. After exploring the city, take a day long excursion to the Niagara
Falls. It’s a 2 hour drive from Toronto. Also consider visiting the Toronto
Islands. It’s a short ferry ride from Harbour Front.
As Toronto is a multicultural
city, you will find cuisines from all over the world. Chinese, Italian, Greek
and Indian food is the most famous, and you will find a flurry of these
restaurants. People from all around the world have brought their cultural
suitcases here. Hence, whether you are Asian, Australian, European, African or
American; you’ll find your cuisine.
As one of the famous cities,
Toronto also has great shopping. St. Lawrence Market is one of world’s best
markets. Besides, shopping Malls and Arcades are all around the city with all
major big brands of the world. Whether its Garments, electronics or Footwear,
everything is here. Do shop for food items, especially from St. Lawrence
Market.
Air Canada is the national
carrier and has a wide network. It offers flights to the US, Europe and Asia
from Toronto. Toronto is also one of the well served Airports in the world. All
major carriers have flights to Toronto. Carriers having regular services to
Toronto are British Airways, Air France, Lufthansa, Etihad, Emirates, KLM and
Air India. Travel between April and September, as winters are extremely cold
and snowy.
