Tashkent is the capital of
Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan is a Central Asian country which has recently become a
Popular Tourist Destination. It has been just 2-3 years since Tourism started
in Uzbekistan. Earlier, the country was not attracting tourists due to Political
and Safety concerns. Also, some people had unnecessarily criticised the country
for its Economic condition. Uzbekistan is now on the path of becoming a popular
tourist spot. The government and people of Uzbekistan have managed to improve
their reputation among Foreign Travelers. Though there are many famous places
in Uzbekistan, but in this Blog, we will discuss about Tashkent. Let’s get
started…..
The city of Tashkent is the
capital of Uzbekistan, and its biggest city. It has a population of around 4
Million with majority from Russia or other nearby countries. As Uzbekistan was
a part of Soviet Union, it gained its independence late. As a result,
development was delayed and the country had to wait for attracting tourism.
Tashkent is a fairly developed city. The Public Transport is Good and cheap. In
fact, Uzbekistan overall is a very cheap country. You just need around 200-300
Dollars for a 3-4 days’ vacation, excluding Air Fare. When it comes to cost, it
is even cheaper than Thailand.
Getting around Tashkent is very
easy. The city has Bus and Metro services everywhere. Taxis are also super
cheap to travel around. The city is mostly covered with Gardens and Green
spaces. It has attractions such as Independence Square, President House, Eco
Park, Aqua Park, Shastri street, Chorsu Bazaar, Tashkent Metro, Weird Statues,
Tashkent TV Tower, Hazrat Imam Complex, etc.
Tashkent is a very calm and peaceful city. You will not find a lot of
people around. People are very friendly and welcoming here. They have developed
the city like any developed city in Europe or Asia.
Food and shopping is good in
Tashkent. Local Uzbek Food is very popular among tourists. Local and
International Restaurants are all over the city. Uzbekistan doesn’t have that
European café culture, but it is famous for Gala Dinners. Gala Dinner with
Local and International Belly Dance is famous among Asian and European
travellers. When it comes to shopping, it is famous for Cotton and Textile
items. Apart from that, Dry Fruits and Spices are very popular among shoppers.
There are Malls and Shopping areas all over the city. Cheap Prices make it more
attractive among travellers.
Tashkent is a fairly connected
city with a small Airport. It has flights all over Asia and Europe. Uzbekistan
Airways is the National carrier. It has services to a lot of Asian
Destinations. If you are travelling from North America, Europe, Africa, South
America or Australasia, consider travelling with other carriers. Some big
carriers with services to Tashkent include Turkish Airlines, Aeroflot, Air
Astana, Asiana Airlines, Korean Air, China Sothern and Malaysia Airlines. If
you are visiting other nearby countries, consider a Road journey from there.
The Desert countryside is worth the effort.
So, pack your Bags and leave for
a relaxing Holiday in Tashkent
