Located in the Northern part of
India, Chandigarh is the capital of the state of Punjab. It is one of the most
well planned and modernised cities in India.
The city is known for its planning and lavish lifestyle. Spacious Roads
and Green Patches are a feature of the city. Only 250 kms from Delhi, it is a
beautiful weekend destination. Apart from its beauty, Chandigarh is also an
important IT Hub for many Private and Multinational Corporations. The city has
a large population of young people, and is very famous for its Nightclubs and
Bars. The city also has a lot of Parks, Lakes and Green Areas. It is a modern
city with Natural touch. Its tourist attractions have made this city famous
among Indian and International Tourists. Its closeness from Delhi has increased
tourism here.
Navigating around Chandigarh is
easy. Since the city is small, places are not that far off. Buses and Auto
rickshaws are the best sources of public transport. App based taxi services are
also famous here. More importantly, they are cheap and easily accessible. In winters,
you can also walk through the city or go from one place to another. Summers are
very humid, making it uncomfortable to walk. So, if you are planning to walk
through the city, visit in winters. Famous tourist attractions in Chandigarh
include Rock Garden, Sukhna Lake, Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary, Chhatbir Zoo,
Botanical Gardens, Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, Leisure Valley, Government Museum
and Art Gallery, Tower of Shadows and International Dolls Museum. All these
places are located at a small distance from each other. If you have a day
extra, you can also visit Fun City Amusement Park or Pinjore Gardens. Pinjore
Garden is located 50kms from the city, but is a distinctive sight.
Shopping in Chandigarh is good.
There are a few shopping malls and complexes, which offer both local and
international brands. It is a blend of International Brands, and generous
offerings from local sellers. Chandigarh is like any other Tier 2 Indian city,
with a small number of shopping areas. If you are an International traveller,
you may find some good things to buy at reasonable price. If you are Indian,
shopping may not excite you that much. We would suggest focusing more on exploring
the city rather than shopping. Go for shopping only when you have some extra
time.
Food in Chandigarh is very good.
The Punjabi culture prevails all over the city. Restaurants, Cafes and Bars are
located all over the city offering different kinds of Indian Food. As far as
International cuisines are concerned, you may not find that many options.
Mostly, Indian and Chinese food is available here. Food is a problem only when
you are looking for any specific International taste. A few places also offer
street food, which is a different experience altogether.
Chandigarh is a well-connected
city. It has its own Domestic Airport, Bus Stands and Railway Stations. If you
are travelling from any Indian city, you have all three options. International
Travelers may have to land at Delhi or Amritsar, as there is no International
Airport in Chandigarh. Both Amritsar and Delhi are 250kns from Chandigarh. For
International Travelers, it is better to visit Delhi, and then travel by road
to Chandigarh. The Road between Chandigarh and Delhi is better than between
Chandigarh and Amritsar. So, land in Delhi.
Have a Nice Trip!
India's initially arranged city is known for its interesting mix of urbane design and normal rapture.
