Kuala Lumpur is the capital of
Malaysia. It is one of the largest and
most influential cities in Asia. Also
called as KL, Kuala Lumpur is a multi-cultural Asian city. KL has a blend of Malay, Chinese and Indian
culture. KL is an economic powerhouse
for Malaysia with Ancient Architecture, crowded streets, Modern Skyscrapers and
mouth-watering Food. Tourism has contributed a lot to the Malaysian Economy,
with KL playing a key role. In recent
years, KL has developed itself as an attractive metropolitan city in Asia. It
gives good competition to cities like Bangkok, Hong Kong and Singapore. A few
months back we posted a Blog – “Mystical Malaysia”, where we focussed on Places
to visit in Malaysia. In this Blog, we are focussing only on the city of Kuala
Lumpur. This is KL in detail!
On Arrival at KL International
Airport, you can use the Bus or Metro to get to your Hotel/Resort/Accommodation.
Using Taxis is not advisable as they are expensive. Buses are cheaper than
Metro, but are uncomfortable and irritating during Traffic. Thus, get around in
Metro. The Petronas Twin Towers are the main attraction of the city. It is the city’s
Icon. Make sure that you Book your tickets in advance for the visit to the
Bridge connecting the 44th floors of the Towers. The bridge gives a breath-taking
view of the city. Other attractions in KL include Historical District of Old
Central Kuala Lumpur, Menara KL Tower, Little India /Brickfields, China Town,
Thean Hou Chinese Temple, Central Market, KL Lake Gardens, KL Bird Park, Batu
Caves, Chow Kit Market and Bukit Bintang.
While exploring the city, we also advise you to visit nearby places by
foot. Walking is another way of cherishing the beauty of the city.
KL is a Paradise for Food
Lovers. If you are a Foodie, you will
have a great time here. The city is full of Restaurants, Bars, Street Food
Stalls and Cafes. The Food culture in KL
is ruled by Malay, Indian and Chinese Cuisines. Locals as well as foreigners
love these offerings, and are mesmerized by the variety. In fact, there are
many tourists who come to KL for its Food. Little India and China Town are
places where you will find all Food loving people. KL thus enjoys the
reputation of a Food Paradise.
Shopping is excellent in KL. Just
like Bangkok, it is a shopping Paradise. KL enjoys the reputation of being a Shopping
and Food Paradise. Bukit Bintang, China Town and Little India are the best
places for shopping. Bargaining is possible at many places. KL is not only
good, but also very cheap. Asian cities are often considered cheap for shopping,
KL is one of them. Clothes, Bags, Purses and souvenirs are the most popular
items of purchase. Avoid Electronics, as there were a few issues regarding
warranty and quality. Visit Luxury Global Brand Outlets, as their prices are
less than those in Europe or North America.
KLIA or Kuala Lumpur
International Airport is one of the biggest Airports in Asia. It is home to
Malaysia Airlines i.e. the National Carrier of Malaysia. KL is also considered
the biggest Hub for Low Cost Carriers(LCCs). It is home to Air Asia, one of the
biggest LCC. Both these Airlines have an extensive network, connecting Malaysia
to all parts of the world. Besides that, it welcomes all major Airlines of the
world. KLIA is also a connecting Hub for Passengers flying from Europe to Asia/Australia,
and vice versa. KLIA is a big contributor to the Malaysian GDP. So, what are
you waiting for? Pack your Bags and leave for a great time in Kuala Lumpur!
